Much like the state that inspired their name, the Sarasota, Florida based band, FLA, is a creative collaboration of diverse talents and experiences that make the whole greater than the sum of its parts. That is quite an accomplishment when you consider the pedigree of these four musicians.
Guitarist Randy Marsh and bassist Mark Waelti have been entertaining audiences along the west coast of Florida as the duo R.P.M. for the past nineteen years. With three albums to their credit and twice named Duo of the Year by SRQ Magazine, their harmonies have been a popular mainstay in the local music scene. During performances this past summer, the pair was often joined on stage by guitarist Larry Crane and the synergy was obvious.
From 1975 until 1991, Crane played guitar for John Mellencamp; co-writing, arranging, recording and touring with the band that Rolling Stone Magazine called “the best rock band in the U.S. today.” Crane’s resume also includes work with Steve Earle, Rosanne Cash, John Prine, William Golden and John Fogerty. Crane has also written and recorded two critically acclaimed solo albums as well as co-written songs and produced other acts in Nashville.
